Print CurDir" in the Immediate Window - that should show the location for your default files as set in Tools I'm not sure I'm completely happy with it, perhaps because it's somewhat of a legacy VB command, but you could do this:.
I think I'd prefer to use ThisWorkbook. Path to construct a path to the HTML file. I'm a big fan of the FileSystemObject in the Scripting Runtime which always seems to be installed , so I'd be happier to do something like this after setting a reference to Microsoft Scripting Runtime :.

Excel Facts. Click here to reveal answer. BrianMH Well-known Member. Joined Mar 26, Messages 1, Issue: A. The linked objects break when I try to access the powerpoint file from any other computer than the one where I created it. Is there any way to force the powerpoint to use relative paths so it always looks in the directory where it's located for the source excel file? I am fairly proficient at computer in general and excel.
I have a very very basic understanding of the inner workings of powerpoint. While you can have with a bit of extra care relative links to images, movies, sounds and other such "direct to file" links, OLE links like links to Excel cannot be relative.
In older versions of Office, PowerPoint would look in the current directory usually the same one as the PPT itself for OLE linked files if it couldn't find them on the path pointed to by the link. IOW, as long as you put the PPT and the linked files together in the same folder and renamed the original copy of the linked file so PPT didn't find it first you were set. Was this reply helpful? Yes No. The file I want to open is in the same folder as the Excel workbook that has the link.
You can then derive the local path using this. Obviously, you could stick all these together into a single formula but, given the name, I'm assuming you're going to have a long list of linked files here to deal with.
Now step 2. I am using a third party product that produces the Excel sheet, so I have limited control. What can I do to make this function recognized as a hyperlink?
I have hundreds of these sheets with links that are being displayed as text only. Need some VBA, but what would it do to correct the link?
