Redirecting virus and wont let ms security essentials start

The problem with Microsoft Security Essentials malfunction just happened on a 2nd computer with windows 7 professional. The 2nd computer also has KB installed.

For the first computer I reran the MSE as a full scan. This time the scan completed on items. No threats were detected on your PC during this scan.

Real time protection On. Virus and spyware definitions Up to date. Details required : characters remaining Cancel Submit. This app isn't monitoring your PC because the app's service stopped. You should restart it now. In the link is a snipping tool of the full scan approximately 10 to 15 minutes before it malfunctioned.

Any idea what happened to produce this malfunction on two computers with windows 7 professional and MSE? Maybe one of the latest windows updates? How do I fix MSE on both computers? On the 2nd computer I did not look at the error code when it was available and only have the error code on the new computer. The app isn't monitoring your PC because the app's service stopped. This program's service has stopped. You can start the service manually or restart your computer, which will start the service.

Real-time protection: Off. So no one here knows the answer to that question. However, from the past we know that Microsoft has typically continued definitions support for Microsoft Security Essentials for at least a few months beyond the end-of-support for a particular Windows operating system version.

For example, with Windows XP it was one year, while I believe for Windows Vista this support ended almost immediately after support for that operating system. The one big difference with Windows 7 is that it's the last operating system using Microsoft Security Essentials, so it may end more quickly as a result. However, since there are more people using Windows 7, it's also possible they'll continue supporting MSE with definitions for a few months as with XP.

Cancel Submit. Le Boule MVP. Have you "manually" removed the Microsoft Security Client folder? Alternatively instead of spending time trying to reinstall MSE I would suggest you install a different antimalware program.
