You can manually add the platform compatible bit version drivers manually in recovery environment. To add the drivers manually, use "Load a driver" option under Utilities in the Norton Ghost recovery environment window. People told me to try to find them on the chipset manufacturer's site, but that led to a dead end. I had hoped to find them on the installed hard drive, seems they should be there, but as of yet have been unable to determine where they are.
On the other hand, I guess the SATA drivers would need to be stored in firmware, not on the harddrive itself. I do not think the validate finds the drives, if that's what you were expecting. It only seems to list the drivers needed. I just get the drivers from the device manufacturers myself.
Do you know what motherboard you have, assuming the SATA controller is on the motherboard? You should be able to get the drivers from their Website. Or you may have received a CD with your computer. They are required to install the operating system. What I have found so far is if the Vista installer can see the hard disk then the SRD will see the hard disk too without any additional drivers.
If the Vista installer needs drivers to see the hard disk then the same goes for the SRD. System recovery disc has compatibility issues with Daemon Tools. Overall Review: I have a background working with the corporate server versions, so I'm a bit bias on this consumer version.
